A Long Line of Presentation

I ran into Rose near central park this past weekend.She shared some of the knowledge that she has acquired over the past 79 years. Rose told me, " There was always a long line of presentation. Not one item should outdo another. The pieces should compliment one another, to create one complete picture. This is how it used to be,there was an elegance before. We were working towards the face, everything was meant to flatter the face."

When I asked her why she wears gloves, she simply responded," To protect my hands."

Tom Wolfe's Style Advice

If I could dress like any gentleman in New York it would be Tom Wolfe. I asked if I could take his photo and told him that I wished I dressed half as good as he does. He gave me some great pointers in the video below.

A Serendipitous Meeting

Yesterday I was walking around the Upper West Side when I saw this beautiful woman. I asked if I could take her photo and handed her a business card. She took one glance at the card and exclaimed, " Advanced Style, you took my photograph about two years in Battery Park." I love running into people I have photographed before and this was surely serendipitous as I hoped that we would meet again some day. I am so excited to have a new Advanced Style muse to share with everyone. A Beauty In Vintage

The other day I met Linda Zagaria while attending a wonderful hat sale, put together by the amazing milliner Ellen Christine. When Linda was a little girl she couldn't wait to grow up and dress like the stars she admired in black and white movies. Actresses like Claudette Colbert and Myrna Loy are her style icons to this day. Linda told me, " When you are younger you tend to dress for other people, when you are older you dress for yourself."She truly brings back the elegance and glamour of Old Hollywood.

Dress Like A Gentleman

This man was walking uptown when I asked if I could take his photo. I love the way he dressed up his jeans with a great coat, classic hat and pair of gloves. This is the perfect cold weather attire.

Old Hollywood

I met this stunning woman at a sample sale party for milliner Ellen Christine. She looks as if she could have stepped right out of one of the Old Hollywood movies I used to watch with my grandmother. She is elegant and charming and I hope to photograph her again. By the way Linda's beautiful suit was made by Andrea Fisher, whose designs are featured at Lark Boutique in Lacrosse, WI.
